1. Research rental car companies in advance: Compare prices and check for any deals or discounts. Many major rental car companies have locations at the Honolulu International Airport, as well as in Waikiki.
2. Check for the requirements: To rent a car, you typically need to be at least 25 years old and have a valid driver’s license. However, some car rental agencies may let younger drivers rent a car with an extra charge.
3. Reserve your car: It’s recommended to reserve your car in advance, especially during peak tourist season, to ensure availability.

Renting a moped in Oahu can be a great way to get around the island, especially if you’re unable to rent a car. However, it’s important to note that in order to rent a moped, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.

I learned this the hard way as we took a rental scooter all the way around the island to North Shore and I can tell you that it was a very bad idea!

Many Hawaii tour companies and luau theaters offer affordable pick-up and drop-off services to the area, and it’s also easy to rent a moped in Waikiki. Additionally, there are several nearby grocery stores and gift shops where you can purchase any essentials you may need.
