1. Xcaret
Xcaret Park is the heart and soul of Xcaret, and it’s a place that truly showcases Mexico’s rich cultural heritage. This park is a celebration of Mexican history, art, music, and food, and it’s an experience that you won’t forget. Whether you’re interested in exploring ancient ruins, swimming in crystal-clear waters, or watching traditional folk dances, Xcaret Park has something for you.
One of the must-see sights at Xcaret Park is the Xcaret Mexico Espectacular show, a cultural extravaganza that showcases the best of Mexican culture. This show takes visitors on a journey through Mexico’s history, from the ancient Mayans to the present day.
With beautiful costumes, amazing music, and awe-inspiring acrobatics, this show is an experience that you won’t want to miss. My favorite part of the show is the opening live ancient Mayan sports game. To get the best seats in the house, make sure you arrive early!
2. Xplor
If you’re looking for adventure, then Xplor Park is the place for you. This park offers visitors a chance to explore the great outdoors and experience the thrill of adrenaline-fueled activities.
From ziplining through the jungle to swimming in stalactite underground rivers, Xplor Park is the ultimate adventure playground.
Xplor is my favorite of all Xcaret Parks, and I highly recommend the photo pass! Make sure you have water shoes so you can enjoy the underground expedition. We didn’t have water shoes and had to buy them at the gift shop, which was around $30 USD per pair.
3. Xplor Fuego
As the sun sets and the stars come out, Xplor Park transforms into its night-time persona, Xplor Fuego. The flickering torches and cackling bonfires signal the arrival of an adventure like no other.
If you’re not afraid of the dark, make sure you don’t miss out on the nighttime excitement at Xplor Fuego Park. This park is a feast for the senses, with fire-lit pathways, fiery displays, and exciting activities.

With breathtaking views from the scenic tower and an array of exciting activities, Xel-Há is a great destination for anyone looking for a fun and memorable day in the Mexican Caribbean.
Not only does the park include food and drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages), but you’ll also have the opportunity to dive into the crystal clear waters from the Stone of Value, soar through the air on ziplines into the cenote, and take a thrilling slide down Riviera Maya’s highest water slide.
In addition to the many exciting activities included in your admission to Xel-Há, there are also a variety of optional experiences that you can add on to enhance your visit. For example, you can choose to participate in a wildlife encounter and swim with playful dolphins.

Xcaret Tours
Other than amusement parks, Xcaret offers a range of tours to help you explore the breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of Mexico. Whether you’re interested in ancient ruins, cenotes, or scenic tours, Xcaret has got you covered. Here are some of the most popular Xcaret tours:
9. Xenotes
The Xenotes tour offers an unforgettable journey to four distinct types of cenotes: the semi-open cenote, the open gran cenote, the ancient cenote, and the striking blue cavern cenote.
This tour provides a thrilling adventure, featuring a range of activities such as assisted rappelling, exhilarating zip-lines, kayaking, exploratory swimming, and daring cliff jumping.
Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or simply seeking a unique and exciting experience, the Xenotes tour is a great choice.
10. Xichen
This Xichen guided tour will take you on a panoramic bus ride to the renowned archaeological site of Chichen Itza and the charming city of Valladolid in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.
Not only will you get to visit these historic and beautiful destinations, but you will also be treated to a delicious buffet and a visit to the stunning Mayan cenote Zací.
If you’re looking to bring back some souvenirs from Chichen Itza, be sure to take advantage of the bargaining opportunities and negotiate for the best deal.
11. Tulum & Coba Tour
Embark on a journey back in time with the Tulum-Coba tour by Xcaret, which takes you to the breathtaking Tulum Ruins, a settlement built along the Caribbean Sea and Coba, an ancient Mayan city that reigned before Chichen Itza.
As you explore Tulum Ruins, marvel at the towering walls that once served as defense and the breathtaking views from the main building’s cliff-top location, making it one of the most photographed sites in the Riviera Maya.
Then, climb to the top of Nohoch Muul at Coba, the tallest pyramid in Riviera Maya that stills allow climbing, and marvel at the ancient paved roads known as Sac-Be that stretch far into the distance.
Xcaret Parks: What to Expect
Before embarking on your Xcaret adventure, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the essential visitor information. Here’s what you need to know:
🚗 Transportation
There are many ways to get to Xcaret Parks in Riviera Maya. One option is to arrange for your own transportation such as driving, renting a car, or taking a taxi. On-site parking is free for those who drive, but please be careful and watch out for Mexican Car Rental Scams!
Another option is to opt for the round-trip transportation service, which is a popular choice for its hassle-free nature. This service can be added at the time of purchasing your tickets, with the cost varying by park but averaging around $30 per person.
It’s important to note that transportation can only be added at the time of purchase, so make sure to include this when buying your tickets.
If you stay at Xcaret Hotels, transportation is included for free and other than the bus transfer, there are other exciting ways for you to get to the park. For example, you can get to Xcaret Park on a boat through the river from Xcaret Hotel to Xcaret Park, or drive an ATV to Xplor!
🍹Food and Beverages
When it comes to food and drinks, the offerings may vary between Xcaret parks. Some parks are all-inclusive and include food and drinks (such as Xel-Ha and Xplor), while Xcaret Park has different tiers that may or may not include food and drinks. As a result, it’s important to check before making your purchase.
While most of the restaurants at Xcaret parks operate on a buffet style, the quality of the food is still top-notch. It’s worth noting that Xplor Park does not serve alcohol because there are driving activities involved. When in doubt, check the park’s official website for information on the food and drink offerings.
📷 Photos
Photos are a great way to remember your experience at Xcaret Parks. The parks are equipped with cameras and “Xelfies” photo points throughout, and your photos can be tracked through a technology embedded in your wristband or helmet. At the end of the day, you can scan and review all of your photos.
You have the option to add a Photo Pass to your admission package during purchase, which covers group photos of up to 10 people. You can also add it when you check in at the park, but I advised against that because you would waste a lot of time waiting in line.
We came unprepared on our first trip to Xplor and we were charged more for the photo pass at the park’s entrance compared to buying online (because of the different conversion rate) and also wasted a lot of time in line to purchase.

Planning Tips to Make the Most of Xcaret Parks
If you’re planning a trip to Xcaret Parks, there are a few tips that can help you make the most of your experience. Here are some planning considerations to keep in mind:
💡Book a Photo Pass in Advance: You should add the photo pass to the Xcaret Parks tickets when you check out. If you wait till the day of your arrival, you risk waiting for a long line at the entrance.
💡Pack light: the lockers at most Xcaret Parks are not very big, so make sure you bring only the essentials
💡Bring Water Shoes: With a variety of water-based attractions at Xcaret parks, you should wear water shoes so you can effortlessly navigate from one activity to the next. Keep in mind that some activities, such as the Underground Expedition at Xplor, require water shoes, so don’t miss out by not having the proper footwear.
👉Get watershoes on Amazon is much cheaper and you can choose different colors
💡Bring a change of clothes: Depending on the activities you choose, you may end up getting quite wet. It’s always a good idea to bring a change of clothes so you can stay comfortable and enjoy your day.
💡Bring a Towel: A beach towel is a must-have for drying off after water activities. Consider a microfiber travel towel for its quick-drying and lightweight qualities.
💡Arrive early and plan for a full day: because Xcaret park tickets offer unlimited access to activities and in some cases, food and beverages, so you should try to arrive early to maximize your experience.
💡Study Xcaret Parks Map: Prioritize which activities you want to participate in and plot out a route on the Xcaret park map to maximize your time.
💡Stay at a Xcaret hotel: Staying at a Xcaret hotel means you have easy access to the parks and can make the most of your experience.
💡Use Biodegradable or Reef-Safe Sunscreen: Xcaret parks are in natural settings, so you should wear biodegradable or reef-friendly sunscreen to protect the environment. Since sunscreen in Mexico costs 2-4 times higher, it’s best to bring your sunscreen from home country to save money.
👉I highly recommend packing SPF 50 reef-friendly waterproof sunscreen

Mexico Travel Hacks
👉 Hotels: Save 50-60% off on your next hotel stay with Priceline Express Deals! They offer great discounts by hiding the hotel’s name till you pay, but don’t worry, you can avoid the uncertainty by using my Priceline Express Deals Guide to reveal the hidden hotel before booking!
👉 Travel Insurance: No one wants to think about what could go wrong on a vacation, but accidents can happen anywhere, at any time. It’s honestly not worth taking the risks when you can be covered for cheap, and I recommend Safety Wing for budget-conscious travelers.
👉 Rental Car: Protect yourself from car rental scams in Mexico! Most car rental agencies won’t accept Collision Damage Waiver Insurance (which usually comes with U.S travel credit cards). They will upsell insurance if you arrive at pick-up without one. Avoid losing time and money by getting the best car rental rates and full coverage insurance for just $7/day with Discover Cars.
👉 Sunscreen: Sunscreen in Mexico can cost you 2-4 times more than in the States. Plus, some tour operators and guards won’t let you enter protected water with non reef-safe sunscreen. To save you money, protect your skin, and ensure a seamless water-filled adventure, I highly recommend packing SPF 50 reef-friendly sunscreen.
